How do I set up my Google TV or Android TV with my phone?

When your Google TV or Android TV asks to set up with your phone, open the Google Home app (or say "Hey Google, set up my device" on Android), pick your TV, check the code matches, and your phone will copy your WiFi and Google account across. Step by step: setting up Google TV with your phone

On the TV, choose 'Set up on phone' or 'Set up with Google Home app' when prompted.
Make sure your phone is on your home WiFi with Bluetooth on.
Open the Google Home app and tap + > Set up device > New device; on older Android TV, open the Google app on an Android phone and say 'Hey Google, set up my device'.
Check the code on your phone matches the code on the TV, then confirm.
Choose your WiFi network and sign in to your Google account.
Finish on the TV by picking apps and pairing the remote.

What if the TV code doesn't appear or my phone can't find the TV?

Keep the phone within a few metres of the TV.
Turn on Bluetooth and Location on the phone.
Update the Google Home app.
Fallback: choose 'Set up on TV instead' and sign in using the remote.

Older Android TV quick setup only works with an Android phone, so iPhone owners should use the Google Home app (Google TV) or the remote.

Why won't my Google TV show a setup code?

The usual causes are Bluetooth or Location being off on your phone, the phone being too far from the TV, or an outdated Google Home app. Turn on Bluetooth and Location, move closer and update the app. If the code still doesn't appear, choose 'Set up on TV instead' and sign in using the remote.
